Keep children and pets out of treated areas until the product has been watered in and allowed to dry. For the best weed control the product should not be watered for the first 24 hours after the application. Once the 24 hours have passed, water the lawn allow it to dry, then children and pets can reenter.

^^^This is very contradictory to information I found on the Scott's website...for the safety of my pets, I'll follow your advice and keep them off it longer. But based on the information I found to water right after application and your advice to wait 24 hours, I'm wondering when to water so that the product is most effective?? This is what the website says, which is very contradictory!

This was on a Scott's page about pets: "The lawn is safe to re-enter immediately after Lawn Food is applied. For faster results, lightly water your lawn after you apply it."

You should wait. Turf Builder Weed & Feed has a weed killer that soaks in through the leaves. You want at least 24 hours with this product on the weed leaves before rain or traffic disturbs it.

It's typically best to start applying fertilizers to your lawn after the first mowing of the season. Once the lawn has been mowed apply lime then apply Turf Builder with Halts and water the lawn. This can all be done on the same day. Follow-up 6 to 8 weeks later with the application of Turf Builder Weed & Feed.

Application and Frequency

Applied Turf Builder with Halts Crabgrass on March 31, 2013. The yard now looks like a lawn. However, there are new broadleaf weeds and clover growing up in a number of spots. What would be a great and immediate solution? And what would be a great follow-up or next step to your solution. Thanks in advance.

You can apply Turf Builder Weed and Feed six to eight weeks after applying Turf Builder with Halts. Keep in mind that for weed killers to work the high temperatures for the day need to be hitting between sixty-five and eigthy-five degrees. This has to happen consistently every day after applying the product.

Question

Weed & Feed vs Plus 2 vs Super Turf

an earlier question/answer said the Plus 2 is now called Weed & Feed. However, the Weed & Feed is a 28-0-3, the Plus 2 says 28-2-4 and the super Turf is 29-2-3. so these products don't appear to be the same. So if I use the Weed & Feed, is there another product I should apply at the same time to give me the extra control that the Plus 2 would have given?

Scotts Turf Builder Weed and Feed, is the current replacement for Scotts with plus 2 Weed Control. There was a slight formulation change during the name transition to remove phosphorous, but no other products should be applied at the same time. This product contains both a lawn fertilizer and a broadleaf weed control.

No. It is the same product. 24d is the weed killer ingredient. TB with plus 2 is now simply called weed and feed. The difference in phosphorus and potash is negligible

You will be able to sod or plant seed four months after treating an area with Scotts Turf Builder with Halts Crabgrass Preventer. Because crabgrass preventers are formulated to keep your lawn crabgrass-free by preventing the crabgrass seeds from becoming established, desirable grass seeds will also be prevented from establishment. If you are planting larger areas of bluegrass, rye, or fescue seed, you may wish to use our Turf Builder Starter Fertilizer with Crabgrass Preventer or Step One for Seeding. These products have a different active ingredient that will prevent the establishment of crabgrass without hurting northern grass types. However, it does not last for four months, so we do recommend a follow up with Halts after six weeks. You need to wait 6 - 8 weeks between fertilizer applications so refrain from putting down any other fertilizer during that period.

Turf Builder with Plus 2 Weed Control is registered for use on both Bermuda and Fescue grass, however, this should not be applied until your grass is 100% green this spring.

If you are looking to fill in bare spots with Fescue, I recommend that you use Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Tall Fescue.

If you plan on using Scotts Turf Builder with Plus 2 Weed Control this spring, you will not be able to seed with the Turf Builder Grass Seed Tall Fescue for at least 4 weeks after the application.

In spring on Bahia we suggest waiting until after at least the second mowing before fertilizing. This is to ensure that the grass is actively growing. To obtain the best control of your weeds we suggest not mowing at least two days before your application and waiting at least 24 hours after the application before watering the product in, allowing it to dry, and then mowing.

You will still benefit from the lawn food in the product. Whether or not you will get control of the treated weeds depends on a number of factors, including temperature, time before the rain, and maturity of the treated weed. We suggest you give the product two or three weeks to work before you give up on it.

There is no way to know how much of the weed killer was absorbed by your plants before the rain rinsed it from the leaves. If you do not see your weeds dying two to three weeks after you used the weed and feed, you could use a weed killer like Ortho Weed B Gon. You cannot re-apply this product for six to eight weeks because of the lawn food in it.
