With a Bermuda grass lawn we suggest applying Scotts Halts Crabgrass preventer in early spring before crabgrass germinates. For treating insects and weeds, in your lawn type, you may use Ortho Bug B Gon Insect killer for Lawns and Orthe Weed B Gon Max for Southern Lawns. We suggest keeping each of these applications 2 weeks apart, but the order does not matter.

We suggest applying insect control when lawn damaging pest are active. In your area this will more than likely be later in the season. You may apply grass seed or sod immediately before or after an application of Ortho Bug B Gon Insect Killer for Lawns Granular, as this insect control will not affect the germination process of grass seed.

This product does not interrupt or interfere with grass seed. You can use it any time before or after seeding the lawn. However, be aware that newly seeded areas can be damaged by compacting the moist soil. Be careful when applying this to watch the wheels of your spreader and step lightly.

This product is watered in so that it leaves the grass blades and goes to the soil level. It is a contact pesticide, not a systemic. That means that it is not soaked up into the roots of the plants. Once the area has dried, your dogs can re-enter.

This product does not move very easily in water. It is safe to use on your lawn even if you have well water. However, as a precaution, we do recommend you stay at least three feet away from a well head or casing. We don't recommend you use near an uncapped well.

This product can safely be used before or after seeding. As long as your starter fertilizer does not contain another control, like an herbicide or fungicide, there is no need to wait between the two products.
